It’s too bad that one cannot embed videos Brightcove TV: That’s were the videos for the SPEECHLESS WITHOUT WRITERS campaign are hosted. EDIT: They’re also on Youtube – this one here is my favourite one

Other things that have been going on: I really, really, really like my new job:-) I like it so much that not even the 2 hour commute can get me down.

Two Girls One Finger – a Plot Summary

Internet viewers are still in a state of catatonia after Two Girls One Cup, and here is the next shock video: Two Girls One Finger. The craze follows the same principle: Few sources let you know what it’s about, but loads of people put up reaction videos. Here are a few attempts of a plot summary, so that you’ll know what it’s about without having to watch it yourself:

Q: Does anyone have a good explanation of two girls one finger.com, similar to the explanation for the one with the cup?… so I know what I’m getting myself into?
A: umm, just think about how penguins feed their babies. [Note: Penguins feed their babies with regurgitated food they have stored previously in their stomach – I suppose this means that 2G1F involves even more puking than 2G1C – Source is deleted]

The “Two Girls One Finger” video is pretty much all of the same scenes from Two Girls One Cup. Same ‘fun’, same ‘substances’, 2 more girls, minus the infamous ‘cup’. The only real difference is, that the stars are Japanese girls, and the soundtrack is set to Yodeling music, opposed to classical music featured on the Two Girls One Cup video. Still, I don’t think the music matters considering the images burned into my brain forever and ever now. [Source]

As if the chaos created by “Two Girls and One Cup” video was not enough we now have competition of sorts on hand. There is a new video that has just hit Youtube. It is called Two Girls One Finger video and this is similar in flavor(pun intended) to the stuff in the 2 Girls 1 Cup video. It is equally disgusting like the ” 2 Girls and 1 Cup video” if not more. [Source]

Watch this reaction on Youtube to hear a bit of the soundtrack of Two Girls One Finger – yodeling and sounds that could have emanated from a water hose.

I ain’t gonna watch this one either…

Two Girls One Cup – a Plot Synopsis

Jetsam wrote about the web video Two Girls One Cup which stopped him from touching his breakfast. He did, however, not mention what it was about, which of course only fueled my interest. Nasty thing that it seemed to be, I watched some of the youtubed reactions of people watching the video first,*) and then decided I didn’t need this. Don’t underestimate the power of images and what they can do to you.

But I still wanted to know what exactly it was about. I managed to retrieve some plot synopses and later my boyfriend, who was bold enough to watch it, confirmed that they are more or less accurate. Two Girls One Cup is a scat porn movie. The summaries differ a bit, so I’ll post them all:

It’s about 2 girls like making out at first, then 1 girls takes a poop in a cup and then they both start licking at it, then one girls stick her finger down her throat and starts puking it up into the cup, then both girls start eating the vomit poop. [Yahoo Answers]

Disgusting movie on the web. Two girls start licking each others chests, followed by one of the girls filling a pint glass with her own feces. The movie goes on to show BOTH girls licking and sucking at the contents of the cup. Later, one girl has a fine specimen that she squirts out of her mouth a few times before swallowing. THEN the girls start pulling the trigger and puking in each others mouths! WORST MOVIE ON THE WEB! INCONCEIVABLE!!
My ex-girlfriend invited me to a friends’ house to watch what she called ‘Two Girls One Cup’… After watching it I burned all of my things, had my name legally changed, and moved to a new state.

A Video clip circulating the internet that depicts two girls involved in a sex act. Initially looks like a typical piece of girl-on-girl porn until one girl shits in a cup. Both girls then eat from the cup and procede to puke on each other.
After I watched ‘two girls one cup’ I wanted to burn my eyes out with a candle. [Both from Urban dictionary]

If you still think that you need to watch the vid, you need to type in the URL yourself, I won’t link to it:
2 girls 1 cup dot com

*) This one is my favourite 2g1c reaction:

EDIT: Here’s the summary of the next shock video: Two Girls one Finger.

Whenever I wake up with a dry spot back in my throat, I can be dead sure that I’ll be sick with a cold within a couple of hours. And that’s what happened this morning – goddammit! I need to be absolutely healthy by tomorrow… hence I am spending the day in bed.

New job starts on Monday!

Bottom of Career LadderAnd I am looking forward to it a lot!

Just a brief update about my past career decisions: In spite of the tremendous adulation from my journalism instructor, I did not receive a job offer from that publishing house for which I slaved a little while ago – unlike most of everyone else of us trainees. And even though I wasn’t even sure whether I wanted to work for them or not, that hurt a bit.

Of course it’s relatively easy to restructure this event cognitively: I can write, but my writing is probably not suited for the masses. I am too much of a critical thinker and my refusal to join the current affairs team (who have a purely tabloid angle) was probably not a smart move in advertising myself. And last not least: I am 33, and if you had the choice, who would pick an editor in training younger than yourself?

The past two days were even more of a confirmation that my job decision (I accepted a job in academia) was the right one: I have just returned from what could be considered my first stint as a consultant, giving a presentation at an innovation management workshop. There were people both from a large telecommunications company and a bunch of designers/new media people, and I was really surprised about the quality and scope of the discussions that were going on. Better than much of the input to be found at a conference dedicated to new media! The fact that the whole thing took place in a castle in Styria was not to be despised either!

For me it was a confirmation that I want to be be amongst people who ARE intelligent and (more importantly) are not afraid to DO AND SAY INTELLIGENT THINGS – unlike in tabloid journalism, where everyone is using their intelligence only to dumb down the things they do and write, trying to please the taste of the masses (who are probably not as dumb as they think – but who get dumber by the day because of the crap they feed them).

I won’t give up writing though – but I’ll try to find a more suitable outlet for it than can be found in tabloid magazines:-)

The wonderful world of media snacking

Am busy putting together a brief presentation about Media Snacking and Micro learning. The point I am going to make is that Micro learning and Media Snacking is basically the same, but viewed from a different perspective: Media Snackers are considered media junkies, micro learners have the much more positive image of sustainable learners who have developed strategies for informal learning, using new media gadgets and who have learned to cope with the handicap of their short attention span 🙂

In that process I came across this perfectly senseless, yet endearing viral video: The two talking cats, currently #4 in the viral video chart.

Getting back (very slowly) to a regular workout routine

Jane FondaAm still bored by blogging, but am gonna force myself anyway. Have just returned from my weekly session of “California Workout” which must be a term coined by Austrians and used in Austria only: The first incidence found via Google was another Austrian blog. It even looked as though the person wrote about the very same gym that I go to: It’s part of the university, open only to students, faculty and staff AND (that’s typically Austrian) to people who hold an academic degree, no matter where they got it.

Basically, California Workout is something like aerobics for the elderly – relatively easy steps (unlike the Streetdance session on Monday which I had to drop as I was unable to follow), mostly low impact and a bit of yoga inspired stretching and relaxation at the end. Perfect to get my lazy bum in motion. And I really think that I have already become a leeeettle bit stronger. Maybe an illusion, but it’s that illusion that keeps me going there and that will in the end make me a fitter, healthier human being:-)

Of course I’ll never be as fit as Jane Fonda (unless I become very rich very soon and hire a personal trainer – never gonna happen) who, by the way, is going to turn 70 on the 21st of December.

I am tired of blogging. At least I finally managed to import my Edinburgh blog – and I’ll simply copy and paste an oooooold story into this new post. I’m doing it to support the fish and chips industries. If you want to have more: Here is a link to all Edinburgh blog posts (a bit more than a year old).

TREAT FROM A CHIPPY
This is how the cookie crumbles! A layer of white paper:

A layer of brown paper:

And a layer of batter.

Hmmmmmh.

Use your fingers,

grab a bite, and then:

Dig in!

The remnants of the feast (probably worth a full afternoon snack on a weight watchers diet…)

My next project: the deep fried battered Mars bar. Stay tuned!

I got published!

And maybe all that print business is to blame for my dwindling interest in blogging. My traineeship is nearly over, and towards the end I finally got published – a double page is bearing my name (and that of the editor in charge of the science dept.)! But most of the writing doesn’t sound like me anymore – the inevitable editorial streamlining process took its toll. I know that this happens everywhere, yet still wonder whether this is really commendable. Take the word ‘stylish’ for instance – it is also used in German, although mostly spelled stylisch: Isn’t it one of the hollowest expression possible? Still it’s used all over the place in advertising and mass publishing.

No matter how exciting those six weeks in a tabloid magazine might have been – I am keen on moving on to my new job now, which has a whole array of interesting intellectual challenges in stall for me:-) And maybe, maybe I am going to be able to combine a bit of freelance writing with it. In theory, that should be possible.

Tagged! The Nosy “Tell Me Your Routine” Meme

Lallopallo tagged me – but the questions are a tad personal, so I might decide to lie where appropriate;-) Also there are soooo many of them….

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
My boyfriend.

2. What were you doing at 0800?
It is three minutes to 8am, and I am drinking tea und writing THIS.

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
Sleeping.

8. What was the last thing you paid for?
A potato strudel and a spinach strudel.

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavor?
Yoghurt.

30. What was the last thing you ate?
Potato and spinach Strudel.

36. Did you cry today?
No, I didn’t.

37. Why did you answer and post this?
Because I am polite person and Lallopallo tagged me – but the person who invented this meme really did the worst job ever. Most questions were too stupid to be answered or just not anyone’s business – so the few ones you find here are the ones I still felt like answering.

38. Tag 5 people who would do this survey.
Hell I will! I am a polite person.

Job search: It’s either feast or famine

The one thing that I hoped would not happen has now occurred: I received two job offers this week, one on Tuesday, the other one on Thursday. They both have their advantages and their drawbacks. The biggest drawback of the one is a long commute of 170 km per day (85km back and forth), the drawback of the other is poor pay (about 400 Euro less after taxes, and no contribution to my pension for four months) and the prospect that the company might not be around for too long.

Oh dear, how I hate situations like these.

I’ve got a new job! (No re-post:-)

And it’s NOT in journalism, but it is going to be related to international theory celebs such as Lev Manovich. Manovich is coming to Vienna tomorrow, upon the invitation of my future boss. How frigging cool is that?

Enough beans spilled.

Why can’t we have disabled comedians, too?

Have you ever heard of Toño, the devil on wheels (el diablo sobre ruedas)? I stumbled upon his performance via this blog. I understand absolutely no Spanish (due to this lowest-possible-challenge Spanish course I took a year ago where the teacher was so afraid that we’d feel threatened by the grammar and leave the course – I almost left it because I didn’t learn anything, not even possessive pronouns!) yet would love to understand this. And what’s the business with those ants in the desk? It seems as if he is looking for work in this skit: Busco trabajo.

Ha! Niggy’s Sunday Bloody Sunday

There is a fabulous remake of U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday on Saul Williams new free/very affordable new album Niggy Tardust. This pleases me twice as much – I think I think I am the only person I know doesn’t like U2 – with the exception of this particular song. But Niggy’s version is MUCH better:-)

I also don’t like Radiohead. They slow me down and make me sad – but for no justifiable reason. I’ll let Astor Piazolla make me sad. Or the Tindersticks. But not Radiohead.
