His justification, actually even more shocking (since true), was that there was no discernable difference between writing this crap for A&F and writing for US academia and for lecture tours. He said he saw no difference between the money he made from both. In times of an increasing corporatization of universities that is actually a very true (albeit pragmatic) statement.
